After completing a master’s degree in art direction and graphic design, he took up photography three years ago. During a trip to New York, he filmed rapper A$AP Rocky for a Bottega Veneta campaign. Back in France, he designed his first edition, “First Look.” In 2024, he devoted himself to fashion photography while continuing to practice street photography. At the same time, he held the position of artistic director at a cultural center. Passionate about film photography, he completed an internship at Diamantino Quintas’ laboratory as an assistant printer-filterer.
In December 2024, he embarked on a trip to India to carry out his first personal project, which he will continue during this year of MP#06.
“Since I was a child, my father has told me that he is not Muslim but Zoroastrian.” This religion originated in Iran in the 7th century BC, and today the Iranian people, under the yoke of a totalitarian Islamist regime, are attempting to reconnect with their religious past as a form of protest. Unable to travel to Iran, Tavan goes to India, to the states of Gujarat and Maharashtra, where exiled Zoroastrians—the Parsis—found refuge more than a thousand years ago. With this series, he seeks to examine his Iranian heritage and explore the tensions between tradition and modernity within this community.
